「雨ニモマケズ」 Ame ni mo makezu (Rain, I Will Not Be Defeated) is a famous Japanese poem by Kenji Miyazawa. This poem shows the beautiful Japanese spirit of selflessness, modesty, humility and stoicism. The massive earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011 has caused extensive damage in the Tohoku region in the north of the country. To show support, MLS (Model Language Studio) has translated the poem into English and theatre groups all over the world have contributed to a reading of it. The aim of this video is both to encourage the victims and spread the message that is contained within this poem to people all over the world.

2011年3月11日に日本の東北地方を襲った大地震と津波は、各地に大きな損害を与え、日本全土に衝撃を与えました。その復興を援助するために、 MLS(Model Language Studio）は、宮沢賢治による有名な日本の詩「雨ニモマケズ」を英語に翻訳し、日頃からお付き合いある海外の教育演劇グループと協力して朗読し、映像をYouTubeにて公開することにいたしました。この詩は、私利私欲がなく、謙虚で、謙遜とストイックな美しい日本の精神を表しています。
ビデオの目的は、被災された方々を励ますことと、世界中の人々にこの詩のメッセージを広げることです。また義援金を募り、日本赤十字社を通して、被災地に届けられます。一日でも早く復興されるよう一緒に頑張りましょう。
